Shop in-stock Alnico magnets for high-temperature, sensor, instrument, motor, generator, speaker and pickup applications. Radial Magnets supplies cast and sintered Alnico grades with fast US dispatch, plus custom sourcing support for production requirements.
An Alnico magnet is a permanent magnet made primarily from aluminum, nickel and cobalt. Developed in the 1930s, Alnico was one of the first permanent-magnet materials widely adopted in industry.
Alnico magnets offer high magnetic flux density and excellent temperature stability, making them well suited to demanding high-temperature applications. Their natural corrosion resistance can also be valuable in harsh environments.
Alnico magnets are commonly manufactured by casting or sintering. The selected process, grade, geometry and magnetic circuit all affect final performance. Because Alnico has lower coercivity than neodymium, the surrounding assembly should be designed to protect it from demagnetizing fields.
Common applications include electric motors, generators, speakers, sensors, measuring instruments and guitar pickups. Alnico is often selected when temperature stability and long-term magnetic consistency matter more than maximum energy density in the smallest possible package.
