FEA Material Property Export

Generate a representative demagnetization (B–H) curve for a magnet grade and operating temperature, then export it in a format built for ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL, or any other FEA package's material library. NdFeB · SmCo · Ferrite

2. Computed properties at temperature

3. Demagnetization curve

Reference values

Recoil permeability assumed: μr ≈ , held constant with temperature. This is the standard simplifying assumption used to derive the linear portion of the curve — real material shows slight curvature.

4. Export for FEA

Downloads a two-column H (A/m), B (T) table of the second-quadrant curve above, in SI units, sampled at 60 points from H=0 to the intrinsic coercivity.

ANSYS Maxwell: Tools → Edit Libraries → Materials → create/edit a material → set Relative Permeability's "Type" to Nonlinear and load this table under the B–H (demagnetization) curve using A/m and Tesla — the units this export is already in.

COMSOL: Add Material → Hard Magnetic Material (or a custom material with a B–H interpolation function) → Definitions → Interpolation → import this file directly; select "Function type: Interpolation" with H as the argument and B as the value, SI units.

The FEA export has no header row cover text beyond the two column labels — delete that first row if your import wizard doesn't let you skip it.
Property values are representative figures compiled from published grade tables and standard industry temperature-coefficient behavior — they are not a substitute for a per-lot material certificate or a manufacturer's hysteresisgraph-measured curve. The knee location and post-knee curve shape are a simplified approximation, useful for early-stage design and simulation setup, but should be validated against actual measured data before finalizing a design that operates near the knee. For grade fundamentals, see the NdFeB grade chart; for compliance/certification documents, see the Compliance Document Center.
