Compact Alnico 5 Design Notes

Alnico offers excellent temperature stability and high residual induction, but its coercivity is lower than NdFeB, SmCo and ferrite. In compact open-circuit geometries, the magnet’s length-to-diameter ratio and surrounding return path should be considered carefully to reduce demagnetization risk.

The listed pull rating is not a universal design load. Real holding force varies with air gap, target steel, contact geometry, surface finish and pull direction.
