Design notes for SKU 8640

Orient a circular pole face toward the mating steel or magnet and check the space available in the mounting bore. Include any housing wall or adhesive layer in the working gap. Verify the required field at the actual sensing distance when selecting this disk for a magnetic sensor.

Check the complete assembly at the intended air gap and loading direction. Listed pull force is a comparison value, not a safe working load; target steel thickness, contact area and surface condition affect actual holding force. Provide clearance in the housing and protect the brittle magnet from impact during installation.

The listed maximum temperature is 80°C. Validate the complete magnetic circuit at the intended operating conditions, including opposing fields and required performance. Check adhesives and housing materials against their own limits. Protect the nickel coating from damage and prevent the magnet from snapping into other parts during installation.

Compare magnetic strength and temperature classes in our neodymium grades chart. Explore gap effects using the pull-force calculator, or send your drawing, operating conditions and volume through the Magnet RFQ Builder.
