Alnico 5 rod magnet measuring 3/8 in diameter × 3 in long, with a listed 3 lb maximum pull and 800°F stability temperature. SKU 8610.
SKU 8610 is an Alnico 5 rod magnet measuring 3/8 in diameter × 3 in long. Its long cylindrical geometry and Alnico 5 material make it a useful option for engineers, OEMs, and procurement teams working on elevated-temperature applications, instruments, sensing assemblies, fixtures, legacy magnetic designs, and equipment where thermal stability matters more than maximum force per unit volume.
| Material | Alnico 5 |
|---|---|
| Diameter | 3/8 in |

| Approximate Metric Dimensions | 9.53 mm diameter × 76.2 mm long |
| Listed Maximum Pull | 3 lb |
| Listed Stability Temperature | 800°F |
Alnico is known for strong temperature stability and high residual induction, but it has substantially lower coercivity than modern NdFeB. That means the magnet’s geometry and the surrounding magnetic circuit are especially important. A long rod geometry such as this 3 in length can provide a more favorable permeance coefficient than a short, thin open-circuit Alnico shape.
The listed pull value is a product comparison value under specific test conditions rather than a guaranteed working load. Air gap, target-steel thickness, pole geometry, surface condition, magnetic circuit design, and load direction can all change usable force.
For applications involving elevated temperature or legacy Alnico-based assemblies, SKU 8610 can be a practical stocked replacement or development part. Review Alnico Magnets: Properties, Grades, Uses & Buying Guide and Alnico Magnets for High-Temperature Applications for material context.
