SKU 8364 is an N40 neodymium rod magnet measuring 1/4 inch in diameter × 1/2 inch long. It is axially magnetized through its length, placing the poles on the two circular end faces. Its compact cylindrical geometry suits sensors, alignment features, fixtures, closures, prototypes, and production assemblies requiring a concentrated field along the axis. Ni-Cu-Ni plating provides a metallic finish.

Design and assembly notes

Confirm pole orientation, operating air gap, target-steel thickness, adhesive selection, and dimensional stack-up in the final assembly. Sintered neodymium is hard and brittle, so avoid impact, snap-together collisions, uneven clamping, and excessive mechanical stress. Use controlled installation methods when assembling magnets near steel or other magnets.

The listed 10.69 lb pull force is a comparison value under defined contact conditions, not a guaranteed safe working load. Air gaps, surface roughness, coating, thin target steel, and shear loading can reduce usable force. Validate holding performance in the final assembly. Review thermal exposure against the listed 80°C maximum operating temperature.

Use the magnet pull force calculator for preliminary screening and compare materials in the neodymium magnet grade chart. Browse neodymium disk and rod magnets, or submit the magnet RFQ builder for volume pricing or custom requirements.
