This 20mm (0.79 in.) N35 neodymium fabric / curtain magnet is designed for compact magnetic closures in curtains, drapery, fabric panels and similar applications. The removable-button format makes it useful where a concealed or low-profile magnetic closure is preferred over a conventional mechanical fastener.

For curtain applications, two units can be positioned so opposing poles help draw the fabric panels together. Check magnet orientation before final installation. Fabric, liners, pockets and other nonmagnetic layers create an air gap, so the usable closure force through the finished assembly will be lower than a direct-contact pull-force value.

Fabric & Curtain Magnet Design Notes

• Allow for fabric thickness: magnetic force falls as the separation between the magnetic components increases.
• Confirm polarity first: test the two sides of the closure before sewing, fastening or otherwise completing the assembly.
• Do not drill or puncture the magnet: sintered NdFeB is a hard, brittle material. Use the removable-button feature or an appropriate pocket/enclosure rather than passing a needle or fastener through the magnet itself.
• Validate the finished assembly: published pull force is not the same as closure force through fabric, lining or other gaps.
